Roman Armour, Roman Armor and Armour Sets
As a military power, the Romans had considerable strength. Intense training made their formal military quite strong, and that strength was only augmented by good equipment, like their armour. As a line of defense, Roman armour is quite spectacular, offering up a distinctive look that is quite unforgettable. And now, you can acquire some Roman armour for yourself just by doing a bit of shopping here at Dark Knight Armoury. The lorica segmentata is the most commonly known Roman armour. Made from bands of iron, this armour was the most protective and was used from about the 9th century B.C. to around the 3rd century A.D. Roman soldiers also commonly wore mail, although the look of the lorica, in either iron, steel, or leather, is far more iconic. Romans also favored muscle armour, just as the Greeks did, thanks to its impressive design. Gladiators also were given pieces of armour, as much for protection as to keep the fights interesting and entertaining. Gladiators traditionally wore a combination of leather and metal, with prominent protectors being the manica for the arms and pauldrons for the shoulders, as well as greaves for the legs. Dark Knight Armoury carries variations of all of these Roman armours, so that when you build your own Roman warrior look, you can build it exactly how you want, with all the right pieces of authentic armour.
