Roman Coins, Roman Replica Coins and Roman Reproduction Coins
Romans were not the first culture to use coins as currency, although Roman Coins did have a major impact on the currency of the kingdoms that came to follow the Roman Empire. Here at Dark Knight Armoury, we carry a variety of Roman coins, in a variety of denominations, including both commonly known coins as well as a few of the lesser-common coins. Perhaps the three most traditionally well-known Roman coins are the as, which was a small bronze coin, the denarius, which was a silver coin, and the aureus, which was a gold coin. You will find each of these common coins, historically replicated from several different Roman eras, which means that many of the denarii and aurei you see here will feature the likeness of several different emperors on their obverses. You can also find other, lesser-known coins like the dupondis, the follis, and the sestertius, all also featuring the likeness of several different emperors and rulers of the Roman Empire. The best part about these coins is that each one is impressively detailed to replicate the appearance of its historic counter-part. Although they are made from lead-free pewter, each of these coins look like they have been freshly struck, with many featuring antiqued or polished finishes, while the aureus coins often being plated in gold. If you are a collector, these Roman Coins are nothing short of a fantastic find, especially when you consider that many of them include a neat little information card that details the history of the coin. And even if you are not a die-hard coin collector, these Roman Coins are a still a great little item that is perfect for personal enjoyment, as well as for use in living history productions.
