The original training weapon of the samurai was, of course, the bokken: the original wooden sword. And it's easy to see why, given that most bokkens replicate the shape and size of a katana; the same is true with our Red Oak Daito Sword. Daito is a reference to the size of this piece; anything longer than two shaku (a shaku being roughly equivalent to one foot) is considered a daito. This particular piece is carved from a single length of attractive red oak, with the appropriate shape for a bokken to have: it mimics the katana in general shape and form, because an exact mimicry would result in a less-sturdy training tool. This bokken, however, will withstand the tests of training and likely even a few good spars, if treated properly. So if you need a bokken, for training or for show, then consider our Red Oak Daito Sword; you won't be disappointed.
