The Norse pantheon is rich with intriguing gods, each of whom plays an important role. The Norse God – Baldur Statue depicts the son of god Odin and goddess Frigg, whose death was said to be lamented by nearly all of creation, save for one creature. One of the most famous stories about Baldur is the one concerning his death and his eventual resurrection. Baldur was erroneously killed by his brother, whose strike had been guided by Loki, and was doomed to Hel because one giant, also presumed to be Loki, would not shed a tear for his demise. Here, Baldur is depicted as a son worthy of Odin, him being a strong, young Viking god who wears loose furs and a cloak, while carrying a warriors spear and shield. Baldur is also said to survive Ragnarok, something even Thor or Odin cannot boast to do. The statue is crafted from cold cast bronze, which is a type of resin combined with powdered bronze that creates a statue as light as resin but with the handsome luster of bronze metal. The statue is also hand painted in places, to better enhance its fine detailing. This mythology statue stands approximately 8.75 inches tall. This Norse God – Baldur is very much the iconic picture of a Viking god, being powerful and strong, and it is those qualities that make it a great accent piece to include in your own Nordic decorating scheme.
