Bayonets were still in use by the US Civil War. The 1853 Civil War Socket Bayonet takes its design from that historical weapon. Made from 1055 high-carbon steel, this bayonet features a design meant for the 1853 Three-Band Enfield Long Rifle, not included. It has a long, double-edged blade. At the base of the blade, there is a socket for fiting onto the barrel of a rifle. This bayonet comes with a leather scabbard. The scabbard has a brass chape and throat. It secures with a buckled strap. Historically, a bayonet gave a longer reach for close quarters combat. Meanwhile, this bayonet makes a great accessory for Civil War reenactments. It fits in well with many weaponry armoury.
